Tommy has over 29 years of experience with assistive technology and home medical equipment. He has extensive expertise with specialty items such as customized seating systems, as well as manual and power wheelchairs. He joined Assistive Technology Solutions in 1996 and is certified in many areas of rehabilitation. Tommy is a certified ATP (Assistive Technology Professional) and Early Intervention Mobility Specialist. He has received additional certifications for practical applications, equipment solutions, seating and mobility. Tommy actively participates in continuing education and certification courses to optimize his knowledge of the ongoing development in the world of assistive technology and durable medical equipment.


RickNelsonRick Nelson
Rehabilitation Engineer

Rick has worked in the field of rehabilitation for the past 30 years. He has a bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Engineering and Design from the University of Michigan. Rick specializes in home or vehicle modification evaluations and inspections, ergonomic evaluations for repetitive strain, chronic pain and work station setup, computer access evaluations for physical disabilities, low vision and blindness, assistive technology evaluations for various learning styles, and environmental control system evaluations for access to electronic aids for daily living (telephone, TV, fans, lights, etc.). Rick enjoys the research and development projects for the creative challenge, and to keep his engineering and design skills current.


AmyVaughnAmy Vaughn
Assistive Technology Professional
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

Amy has worked in the rehabilitation field since the early 1990’s. She has an Associate in Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Indiana University. Amy is both a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and an ATP.  Pediatric therapy has been Amy’s main career focus. In 2001, she transitioned to ATS where she evaluates adults and children for all types of assistive technology equipment. Amy’s specialty is pediatric mobility equipment: wheelchairs, standers, gait trainers, and bath chairs, because of her experience with pediatric special needs. She is always willing to lend a helping hand to ensure the client has the correct equipment.


BillCarterBill Carter
Rehabilitation Technician

Bill has worked for ATS since 2000.  He has multiple certifications to service and repair wheelchairs and durable medical equipment.  Bill is re-certified as rehabilitation technician every year to keep up with the ever changing technology. Prior to joining Assistive Technology Solutions he worked in the automotive industry and received an associate in science degree.

Administrative Assistant

Marcia has worked for Assistive Technology Solutions since 2000.  She has worked in rehabilitation billing and office support for more than 32 years.  Marcia processes all orders for durable medical equipment.  She is also responsible for ATS’s medical insurance billing. 


JanisGarrisonJanis Garrison
ATS Department Manager

Janis has been with The Rehabilitation Center, Medical Records Department, since the fall of 2009, and with ATS since January, 2012. Prior to joining The Rehabilitation Center and returning to Evansville, Janis was based in Indianapolis for over 12 years in critical quality print sales. Prior work experience includes public relations and administration at Black Beauty Resources and commercial real estate sales and leasing in the Southern Indiana area.
