The mission of the Assistive Technology Solutions division of Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center is to provide adults and children with disabilities access to complex rehabilitative and assistive technology services and equipment to increase their opportunities for independent living, employment, education and recreation.

Assistive Technology Solutions, formerly known as Easter Seals’ Durable Medical Equipment division, is a very well established provider of technologies to help individuals maximize their independence.   We offer adult and pediatric equipment, as well as, ever changing new technologies.  We do not underwrite equipment however, in most situations, we can assist with insurance funding provided the equipment or services are deemed medically necessary.

Equipment and services provided by Assistive Technology are initiated by a physician referral.  We work directly with the physician and insurance companies to make sure your patient receives the custom equipment that best suits their personal need.  Upon receipt of the referral, we contact your patient to schedule an in-home mobility evaluation.  The in-depth evaluation is then returned to the referring physician for review, questions, if any, and signature.

Our staff handles all communication with payer source(s) to obtain prior authorization or pre-certification.  Once the evaluation is complete, we obtain all necessary approvals and authorizations to begin the custom order process.

We are CARF accredited and an approved supplier for most major insurance organizations including Medicare and Medicaid.  In the event a patient is responsible for co-payment or their annual deductible, we will identify this aspect prior to securing the equipment to minimize the patient’s financial concern.

Upon delivery all equipment is thoroughly inspected, additional accessories are installed and delivery, final fitting and training are scheduled with the patient.

Driving Evaluations and Driver Rehabilitation for Individuals with Disabilities

For many individuals, the ability to drive an automobile is essential to an independent lifestyle. Assistive Technology Solutions and Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center’s comprehensive driver evaluation and training can help individuals with physical, cognitive, psychological, or emotional disabilities achieve this goal. A clinical assessment and behind-the-wheel evaluation identify the specific needs of each person.  After the evaluation our certified driving rehabilitation specialist is able to design a unique training program for the individual’s specific learning needs.

Driving Evaluations and Driver Rehabilitation for Seniors

As our population ages, more seniors and their families have concerns about safe driving. An objective evaluation can help to determine if age-related changes are affecting an individual’s driving ability. Retraining with new techniques and/or adding special driving aids to the vehicle can help many mature drivers compensate for those changes. When necessary, our caring staff can help seniors make a smoother transition from driving to using other forms of transportation.
